Langston Hughes' heartwarming gospel play is here for the holiday season, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ through the uplifting genre of gospel music. Follow the star to Bethlehem in this modern staging of Hughes' original musical, and rejoice in the good news that this show brings for a community often on the outskirts, rather like a certain baby 2,000 years ago....

This two-act musical was written over 50 years ago by the Harlem Renaissance poet Hughes, first performed in 1970 and was originally set in biblical era Bethlehem. The innovative new staging fast forwards the action to the modern era whilst keeping intact the relevant themes of neighbourly love, community collaboration, activism and leadership within our community. This uplifting production sets out to restore hope and faith in the season of goodwill.
