Puerto Rico welcomes Hamilton back for Benefit Performance
Lin-Manuel Miranda plans a 2-week run for Hispanic Federation, Flamboyan Arts and Hurricane Maria Fund.
The benefit show will run from June 13 until June 25 at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferr in San Juan and will feature the cast of Angelica' North American tour. Miranda has thoughtfully used the famous musical and created these shows to help raise money for rebuilding in Puerto Rico since the tragedy of the 2017 Hurricane, Maria.
June 16 show dedicated to the Hispanic Federation and the Flamboyan Arts Fund will be accompanied by original Broadway cast members, Lin-Manuel Miranda (Alexander Hamilton), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Angelica), Christopher Jackson (George Washington) and Leslie Odom Jr (Aaron Burr). They will reunite to help the cause and enjoy the performance.
This would be the musical's second time heading to Puerto Rico, the first being in 2019 when Miranda himself stepped back into his titled role, this benefited the Hispanic Federation and Flamboyan Arts Funds as well.
Particular goal for Miranda was to ensure donations towards Flamboyan Arts Fund will go towards making sure the arts are a part of the rebuilding process. The hope is to not only raise $2 million dollars for the charities but to provide further help after 5 years of rebuilding efforts and emergency assistance since Hurricane Maria.
