From the Heart

Story line aside, the attention to detail from each perfomer (musician and dancer) brought the story to life; warming my heart and bringing tears to my eyes. With every smile and toe-step from the stage to each note played from the every instrument; your strength, effort and talent have given more than you can possibly imagine. All I can say to each and every one of you, is thank you! Merry Christmas!

Oh my, I was mesmerized! This show was phenomenal. I was at a student performance and I could hear a pin drop! The set and costume were new and refreshing. The colors were splendid. There was some cute scenes that made everyone laugh! Michael Pink, I was worried about this performance but you OUTDID yourself! Beautiful piece of work! You will not want to miss this

The Nutcracker was spectacular. Best I have ever seen. The ushers were great. They went above and beyond for a friend they provided a wheel chair for. Can't wait to see it again.

Waltz of the Snowflakes

If I'm not mistaken, I don't remember hearing the chorus (choral) piece in this version. And the snow falling while the ballerinas danced. This is my favorite song and was disappointed because of these two pieces missing. I did enjoy the new set and the beautiful costumes. And the children did an excellent job.

Going to the Nutcracker ballet has been a decades long event me and my family attended every year. I absolutely love the original Nutcracker. The story is magical, the dancing is amazing and the costumes were spectacular. But as the years went on, different perspectives and adaptations have vastly changed what Pyotr Tchaikovsky had originally imagined in 1892 from a short ballet by E.TA. Hoffman in 1816, called The Nutcracker and The Mouse King. The music Tchaikovsky is timeless and extraordinary as well as the story was and the dancing. I know we are not the Russian ballet, I have been to at least 30 Nutcracker Performances, I have seen it adapted it so many ways. I have seen the lengthed Russian version. The original was a shorter Nutcracker Suite and didn't gain popularity until a few years later. This isn't WIKIPEDIA. You can read all that there. I was thought disappointed because the 2009 movie, The Immiganimarum of Doctor Parnassus was completely ripped off and poorly adapted to the what could have been so much more. The costumes were pretty, didn't love them. Some of parts were changed so much I had a hard time following as to what was going on, who was who, where was the magical land I once loved? Yes there were a lot of kids in the performance, that's why my rating wasn't 2 or less stars. They did well for being that young performing infront of huge crowds but the leads and company should have danced better. The timing was off as well as the stage marks and the unison could have been better. Their lines were sloppy, moves were unimpressive and not at the skill level of dancing I'm used to seeing in the Milwaukee Ballet Company. In all fairness, it was a Saturday 2pm performance, but we all pay our money for the tickets, we should not get a "dress rehearsal" type performance because it's an early show. This concept could have been so incredible, I loved the movie and I love the Nutcracker, no brainer there. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The toe point dancer was the best of all and she wasn't even the lead. I think she was the snow queen. Like I said, it was very confusing as to who was who and what was what unless you read the whole program. I tried but it was dark.

My expectations were high and what I saw didn’t come close. After years of dancing lobsters??? I was glad for the change. The concept was interesting unfortunately the company did not pull it off. At 37 minutes into the performance I looked at the time because I was so bored with the “party scene”. Unfortunately the adult ensemble dancing was not together throughout the performance and that was distracting. The mouse puppeteer should have been in a black. You could see his beige/tan sleeve which broke the illusion. The character of Fritz in the beginning is a brat, but in the second act he gets along with his sisters? Clara is just a bit player although billed as more. Some parts seemed to be taken from the movie “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”. I was mesmerized by the “Arab” dance as traditionally called. These two were perfect and stunning. I did not expect children to be dancing and bless their hearts I was disappointed. The costumes and set design were beautiful. All else-ugh.
