Step into the world of Puccini's Madama Butterfly, a timeless opera where Japanese traditions intertwine with American dreams, creating a poignant tale of love, sacrifice, and cultural collision.
Meet Cio-Cio San, affectionately known as Butterfly, a young Japanese girl who believes she's found true happiness in her marriage to U.S. Naval Officer Pinkerton. But her devotion is tragically misguided, as Pinkerton sees their union merely as a fleeting chapter before he returns to America to find his "real" bride. Unaware of his intentions, the lovestruck Butterfly waits faithfully for his return to Japan, eager to introduce him to their son - only to face heartbreak when she learns the devastating truth.
Madama Butterfly is one of the most celebrated operas in the world, inspiring countless adaptations since its premiere at La Scala over 110 years ago. Now, Florentine Opera brings this classic to life in a traditional production, featuring Karen Chia-Ling Ho as Cio-Cio San, Adam Diegel as Lt. Pinkerton, Kristen Choi as Suzuki, Grant Youngblood as Sharpless, and Zhengyi Bai as Goro. Conducted by Francesco Milioto and directed by Mo Zhou, this production also features the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and The Florentine Opera Chorus, under the direction of Chorus Master Dr. Benjamin Rivera.
